Holiday Vodka: My first experiment!
My project for December was something I have never tried before and always wanted to— making/editing booze! I saw a link from Rats Off and once I read it over, I realized it can easily be done. So I went out got a huge bucket and tried it.
Cranberry seemed too boring so I added orange and cinnamon in the mix to liven it up. The cinnamon ended up being an awesome choice and made it a good winter drink. The original plan was to spraypaint the vodka bottles and cover them in a red wax seal, but I found legit bottles on my block at Whisk instead to keep it classy. (Found the “candy cane” twine there too!)
Next was to make a kick ass label. I wanted it printed on REALLY heavy weight paper, but I could only find 110 lb. without shipping the printing away.
After 3 weeks, BOOM, it was ready. I used a extra fine strain and bottled it up. When I handed it out, everyone seemed to really like it. The taste was good too, even though I think it tasted horrible because vodka is fucking gross no matter how to dress it up.
There is one thing I still don’t understand. If you let the booze settle, there is a sediment at the bottom. No idea what that is from? Also, bummed I threw out 90% of the cranberries after I bottled them up because those were booze filled treats. Won’t make the same mistake twice.
Next up is making my own beer from scratch. Once I move into my new place, it will be done! Oh, and more vodka experiments. Its so easy!
