For a year and a half, I worked on my picture of myself everyday project. Felt good but I grew tired of it.

When I heard the idea of video everyday and it being what I see instead of myself, I jumped at it. I have been using it for a month and am hooked. To the point where I look at my calendar and plan what I wanna film that day. This is my first month. Can’t recommend the app more.

My first month: thumbs up test, my subway stop, racquetball at the YMCA, Running Late with Andrew WK, Jazz at the Lincoln Center, fucking around with dry ice on my roof, opening day at Finnertys, columbus circle, office pranks!, brooklyn museum, rooftop BBQ, scouting new office, Lucius, locker room, WINDY day, Habana with Ellie, Julius Caesar at BAM, packing old office, unpacking new office, coffee in new neighborhood, cage match at UCB, Jerry being Jerry, harold auditions, finnys with Alan and Mer, pizza with Darryl and Dan, Andrew jam sesh, promotion dinner at Dans, Kind photosoot, Wild Cub at Mercury Lounge, Mets game with my improv team.

Great month. Can’t wait to keep going.

Instant nostalgia! About 500 days complied into 45 seconds.

I remember being so excited taking these and thinking how exciting it will be to post it. I figured I would do 3 years or so and it would be incredible. I lost steam about 6 months ago. It was fun though! Probably my most used non social app.

Beards growing, roommates, vacations, work trips, weight loss, weddings, Noah & Reggie, exgirlfriends, silly mustaches, parties, a profile photo (that I might keep forever?), drunken nights and hungover mornings, best friends.

Great perspective on how much fun I get to have on a daily basis.

Funny or Die Makes a Steve Jobs Movie With Justin Long | NY Times:

Funny or Die, the comedy Web site, said over the weekend that it had made its own Jobs movie — “iSteve” — and planned to unveil it online on April 15. A biopic poking fun at biopics, “iSteve” stars Justin Long (“New Girl,” “DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story”) in the title role. At 60 to 75 minutes, the movie is the longest project to date for Funny or Die, which generally features bite-sized videos.

iSteve! Proud of FoD for this one, big time.

: I have been stopped so many times in NY because of my SF hat. Its a wonderful calling card to other bay kids out here, especially during the playoffs. From walking home in Brooklyn super late and a guy just nods and points at the hat when you walk by each other or conversations like above, we stick together. I always try to at least smile at someone in a SF hat, so they feel the bay love. Everyone tends to agree: San Francisco is the greatest, but you can't beat NY.

Deathday

You celebrate your birthday. The day you entered into consciousness on to Earth and started to be. Every year friends and family praise you with a mix of “Hey, you’ve made it this long!” and “You are special to me and I care that you are in my life.” Sometimes tons of presents are involved, its a blast.

Here is what I am choosing to believe, right now, today:

The deceased, they celebrate their deathday. The day they were set free. Free from silly worries, silly taxes, silly bigotry, and the silly wonder of how long they get to have. Every year on the day they died their soul becomes conscious again. They get to think. Move about. Wonder. Presents are involved too, but they only get one: they get to visit everyone. Because their deathday isn’t about them, its about everyone else around them when they were living.

Deathdays usually start with a big smile because being conscious again is fun. Thinking is fun, no matter how mundane. What is that yellow vase made of? Can they still solve for x? Who is better John or Paul? They miss that. They start to move about, exploring. Whats different? Roads change, cars change, buildings change. Lots of change. Theres no worry about all the change, because its not their change to deal with. And without fail, they start to wonder. How are their friends and family doing? What are they up to? They check in and smile even more. It feels good to see everyone again: sons and daughters, husbands or wives, neighbors, colleagues, college friends. Everyone.

Their deathday eventually ends with a slow walk back. “Until next year, I can’t wait to see you all again.”
